Edge Isolation
Edge isolation for inline systems

During solar cell production, cell edges are isolated and phosphorus glass is removed following the diffusion process. This prevents the solar cell from short circuiting. After the edges are isolated, the solar cells are ready for the ARC process.

Our service

Our competent GP Solar cell technology team takes responsibility for edge isolation processes using the partner company's systems and handles technical process support.

Analytics

Process baths can be analyzed using at-line ionic titration.

Advantages

  • Inline edge isolation and phosphorus glass removal in one process step
  • Efficiency increase of approximately 0.2% (compared to the laser process)
  • Good process control
  • Long bath life (up to 3 million wafers/bath possible)
  • Short circuit reduction
  • Suited to any wafer material, size, or thickness
