Dr. Ihor Melnyk assumes new responsibilities at centrotherm photovoltaics AG

As of July 1, 2010, Dr. Ihor Melnyk assumes new responsibilities at centrotherm photovoltaics AG as the head of the Technology Transfer Solar Cell and Module division, thus relinquishing his function as one of three chief executives at centrotherm subsidiary GP Solar GmbH. The doctor of physics joined Dr. Eric Rüland to form the executive leadership of the Constance, Germany-based solar company. The two were joined by Petra Hoffman in February 2010, forming a leadership trio.

For the first time ever, GP Solar GmbH of Constance will present at Intersolar Europe, from June 9-12, a prototype of its contactless micro-crack detection system. The new innovation is the company's latest addition to its silicon solar cell inspection product line. The GP MICRO-D .Cell is a fully automated measuring system that inspects cells for tiny fissures - so-called micro-cracks - and other material defects, and rejects affected cells. Contactless inspection does not subject the cells to any mechanical loading.

GP Solar GmbH is launching two new software solutions for processing solar cell production measurement data. These solutions enable cell manufacturers around the world to ensure a consistent level of quality across different production facilities, thus achieving "global quality standards". The software is tailored to optical measuring systems in the GP Solar Inspect product line. It is used for automated production monitoring and control in solar wafer inspection and classification.
